I got 3 of them, they are small, one did pass the eggcrate cover on my overflow. He stayed in there for a day and he made it. Overflow in more secured now.

They are small. Looks like a damsel. Interesting thing is a night they sleep at the surface, in open water. Do not hide like other fishes. The black pipe next to him is a 6mm pipe.

Thanks, I like them. Found this info on them

This fish is known as Yellowtail Sergeant, Dusky Damsel and the correct latin name is Abudefduf Notatus. It belongs to the Damsel family. (e) It's origin is from East Africa to Micronesia & Japan. (e)

    Character and suggestions regarding care

Yellowtail Sergeant is a peaceful species.

Yellowtail Sergeant can grow up to 17 cm what is approximately 6 inches. So 1 specimen requires at least 2040cm2 of water surface what is approximately 316 square inch. We recommend you to keep it in fish tanks which are medium. (e) Medium aquariums have at least 113 Litres (30 US Gallons). Large aquariums have at least 265 Litres (70 US Gallons). Very large aquariums have at least 700 Litres (185 US Gallons).

It is not very difficult to keep the Yellowtail Sergeant fish. (e) The specific gravity (SG) should be between 1,020 and 1,025, the temperature between 23°C (73.4°F) and 26°C (78.8°F). The pH level should vary between 8.0 and 8.3 what is usual for marine fish.

It lives from 1 to 12 m deep water with strong waves, usually in small groups in nature. So the best is to keep them in shoals and in aquariums with stronger water stream.

    This fish is an omnivore.

You must be talking about its cousin
    Sergeant Major Damsel

This fish is known as Sergeant Major Damsel, Striped Sergeant, Damsel Fish, Five Finger and the correct latin name is Abudefduf Saxatilis. It belongs to the Damsel family. (e) It's origin is Indo-Pacific. (e)

    Character and suggestions regarding care

They are aggressive and should be kept with other species in very big aquariums only.
