    Hi

    I still use a hydrometer.

I am sure many others still do too.

Once or twice you may have experienced the annoying situation where your hydrometer wont work in a small container with shallow water.

    I have a solution

Do not throw away old heaters.

Instead take them apart and use the glass tube as a test tube for your hydrometer.

Be sure to avoid taking a reading from the curve of the water.

This is done best by reading the water level around the glass tube.

    It works well

just be careful taking the old heater apart, the rubber end cap is pushed in so hard that you can easily break the tube trying to get the rubber out. Be careful not to cut your hands.
