Hi guys, hope someone can help. one colony of my shrooms in one of my tanks started "deteriorating" over the last week or so for apparent reason. after lots of searching with a headlight on at night i fanally found the culprit/s.

it seems like flat little slugs abou 3-5 mm long and light brown in coulor. my problem is removing them manually is almost impossible, any other ideas of getting rid of them ...i've moved the colony to my sump in the meantime for safety sake but impossible to say if they moved to other shroom. heres the best pic i could get..had to play around in Photoshop to make it stand out a bit[IMG]

yes, they are called flatworms you should try to get rid of them, some species of fish have been known to eat flatworms ,mandarins, wrasses, damsels and tangs and they can spread fast if not monitored and they smother corals to death:(

thanks ruan...will have to keep going the manual route...i have a predator tank so the natural way will probably end up with a mandarin, damsel etc ending in someones belly :p

Remove the colony from the tank if you can and give them a freshwater bath

Do as Tony mentioned or you can give it an Iodine dip.

Seems like the RO/Iodine mixture worked...there are a few still however, think it will take more than one dip to "break" the reproductive cycle..

I have seen a article on Salifert Flatworm eXit...havent seen the products in our shops though.

heres a link anyways for all:wave2:

Frans - just a FYI.... a 6line wrasse eats these little critters...... And are luckily not dependent on the flatworms for survival.... they will also eat anything else...

I think a sixline is an awesome addition, mine got hooked on eating small pellets within a day or two and he is my favourite fish at the moment.
