Hi all,
I have a Sleeper Goby and I love him!
I've got some conflicting information from the web and would like to know if anyone else has one and what their experience with these guys are.
I'm afraid he'll starve to death, like some people have reported theirs doing. I'm currently feeding a mix of brine shrimp, mysis and pellets and every so often I throw in some fish eggs.
Not a lot lands on the sand bed - my tang (Ariel) is a greedy bugger and Goby (that's his name, don't laugh, it's suits him) hides when I feed them, by the time he comes out, the food is gone.
I'm going to get a culture of brine shrimp going. Any idea how to increase my copepods and amphipods and other microfauna?
I had a good amount in my tank, but the fish are picking them off and the numbers are reducing.
I want to set up a separate tank for the cultures because I don't have a sump.
I had a terrible algae bloom - including really aggressive cyanobacteria - with the cycling and he's done a fantastic job turning the sand.
Tank info
Juwel LED 200
2 juvenile clowns
1 firefish goby
1 scopas tank
1 bluestreak cleaner wrasse
1 scarlet skunk cleaner shrimp
My tank is about 2 months old and I got existing live rock from the pet store, which helped with the microfauna.
I also have live sand, however I doubt anything of value is in there for Goby?
Any comments on your personal experience would help.
Thanks,
Pauline
