I personally like skinny overflows. They can be tricky to build and dont offer a lot in terms of a safety net when things go wrong. You wont be able to put your hand in to pull anything out for example.

    Hi @cizanie,

I think that a tank with a skinny overflow looks great, but is not very practicle in terms of blockages, maintenance etc. If designed well then it won't be a problem.

Skinny overflow is nice. Space saving.

    But

If something is stuck in there, you cannot get it out. Do not put a skinny overflow under euro bracing. Skinnies can be noisy, so you need a ballvalve. But a gatevalve is better as you can adjust it a lot better than a ballvalve. Do keep in mind that something can go down the overflow and end up blocking the valve.

On 200L and bigger tanks I prefer a standard corner box overflow. On a nano the space saved makes it worthwhile.
