    Hi Guys,

I have a really dumb question:

I, impulsively, bought my first tank today, a secondhand 4ft tank. I am trying to figure all the plumbing out ... hard going .. I'm as practical as a brick. Now, herenis the thing, I popped the skimmer in a bucket to see if it works and received a very mild electrical shock:blush:...I guess this is not normal ... does it mean the skimmer is useless?

    Thank you
    Fanie

Most likely not. Check the wiring and if all else fails get another pump.

    old pump most likely

Check the impeller and inside the pump. If the impeller scratched away the inside, then rather replace the pump. Other failure point is the cable entrance at the back, check for cracks there, do not twist the cable too mush that you cause new cracks.
