Is there an ideal water level for all skimmers ? and how do you know what that level is ? I have a JNS SK-2 and would like to set my baffle as the water mark for the skimmer, but I am unsure what that should be ... do not find any info on internet, etc

Well, it really depends how deep your skimmer is in the water. Most skimmers have a vavle that can be adjusted to get the water level at the optimal height inside the skimmer body.

    mmm no manual?

i run my vertex alpha 200 in approx 200 - 250mm of water.. im sure the sk 2 is about the same...

i have a pipe that i can adjust my height the water level within the compartment that the skimmer is housed in and then i can still adjust the skimmer itself..

My question is "what is that optimal level" do I make my baffle 200,220,250,290,315 ?? I know you can elevate the skimmer and adjust the valve, but what is the guideline ?

Trial and error. If you don't have a manual or can't find any info you will need to "play" with levels before you get your preffered skimmate.

Ok, finally found something which suggests that the skimmer placed "ideally" in 9" of water. That's about 230mm - so the baffle in my sump should be at about 250 so I can rise and drop the skimmer - right ?

yep i cant see a problem with that.. its usually between 200 and 250mm for insump skimmers of that design..
