You need to pull all the junk out of the liverock so put it in a dark container with ro water and let all the muck seep out. change the ro water totally on a weekly basis for a month and then you will have clean liverock to start with.

Do you mean saltwater made up with RO or just RO? If it's just RO won't it kill al the benefical bacteria we need to help in the tank?

The rock is dead it was laying in some salt water in the sun so its in a bad condition dead and covered in algae and grime and slimy stuff thinking of using some bleach or jek to clean

if its dead i say nuke it with acid, and burn the 1st couple layers of the rock away, there was a thread on reef central on how to do it.

it is about cleaning the rock and getting impurities and then you can build the bacteria up afterwards. if you use hydrogen peroxide it will strip a layer off but why waste your liverock?remember if y ou have got live rock without impurities it is cured. then you can even put it in your tank without doing anything further! . Then once it is inyour tank you can add bacteria ! Mandarinmans way of curing vrot liverock!
