OK so the electrical surge just got worst and now tripping my whole house. I need a skimmer asap but as with most people. This will happen before payday !! Ok so looking for secondhand skimmer rated nothing under 1000 l/p/h . Or suggestions on which skimmer to replace the TS3 with will also be welcomed.
Anybody has a spare skimmer lying around to borrow in the meantime??
I feed quite heavy and must have my skimmer running:blush:

Reduce your feeding in the interum and try to add additional oxygen via an airpump. Hope you find a replacement soon .

Thank you @leslie hempel . i already have an additional airpump in the sump... will try and take the pump off this afternoon and try dry it out properly...perhaps seal with silicone and see what if it might work. But in the meantime going to shop around for another skimmer

Do you have the older TS3 with 2 pumps or the newer one with one pump? I'm pretty sure the pet shops will sell replacement pumps, have you tried phoning them?

That impeller is new, and the impeller is about 450 on its own.

Yup....just my bad luck i tell you. I was thinking of taking out the pump letting it sit in the sun for a while, to dry out. And perhaps try and seal the part where the wire goes into the pump with some silicone and aquamend. Worth a try cause i know pump was working fine. Just now the electricity issue.

Silicone wont work long term - there is a cable jointing epoxy that you can get from the hardware stores - it should seal the area where the cable enters the pump. just give the area a light sand aswell.
hope it helps - also take the impellor out and check the housing has worn through the pump block aswell!

I can't see a break in the cable. ..siliconed the part of the wire going into the pump and then I aquamend over the silicone just to be double sure....tested it in a bucket of water and no electrical current and pump working perfect. Then I attached it to the skimmer again plugged it in and it dropped the power again. Thought it was the plug poibt maybe and ran it with an extension same thing happened. So really not sure as I could see no damage even when I took the impeller out.

put the impeller away at some place where you could find it again one day. It is still basically new.
