which is better for the skimmer? A pipe running to the skimmer directly from the overflow.....or the skimmer sitting in the sump getting water pumped thru it by a pump?

If it is an external skimmer,my choice is to feed to skimmer with a seperate pump rather than feeding it via the overflow. This way the water level in the skimmer doesnt fluctuate. IMO

Don't go with overflow feeding the skimmer, rather have separate pump.
