    Hi Fellow reefers.

I am currently running a Reefoctopus 3000 ext skimmer on my 650l system. I would like to know if this skimmer is sufficient enough to have sps aswell.

As far as i know corals don't add to your bio load, only fish does. You can go up to a 1000 liters with your current skimmer but with not too much fish

Yes the skimmer is rated for 1200L I think, but remember you strive to skim twice your water volume.
Also SPS require the best possible water parameters, so the skimmer play a vital role.

    Let the experts jump in.

I can't remember where I read the article on skimming, but the guy said that 1.2 - 1.5 times is ideal on a normal bio-load, double is a waste. You can go double if you have lots of corals with possible chemical warfare, many fish and if you have a heavy hand :p
But under normal circumstances it's not a must.
BTW, I think the newer top brand, more expensive skimmers can actually do a 1000l tank if the rating is 1000l. I think the Vertex or JNS works like that (speaking under correction here :whistling:)
