I got a berlin triple pass skimmer, with pin wheel and aquamedic 2500 pump.
my tank is fairly new,but has skimmed a few dirty cups already, but since adding my 1st fish,a clown and wrasse,it hasnt skimmed any dirt.

this is worryin me now,its been like 5days and no dirt.

Also, what is the ideal time period between adding fish?

    any info wil be apreciated!
    thnks

sorry maj i dont have any experience with that skimmer at all. But it should have some skimate in the cup after five days, unless the water level is too low in the chamber and the bubbles arent reaching the 'neck" of the skimmer? can we maybe have a pic?

It's good to add one fish every week to give the bacteria change to adjust to the new waste levels. Adding more than one fish, especially tangs that mess alot could potencially crash your system if not mature enough..

@crispin,it has skimmed out dirt b4,wile tank was cycling.just now since i added the clown that it stopped skimming dirt, the bubble do reach the cup, just not dirty bubbles/foam.
@tiger,at no point can u add 2fish on th esame day, small clowns perhaps?then ther will only be 3fish in my tank(about 380litre tank)

Hi Maj - many things can impact your skimmer not skimming. The MOST common thing - is - either feeding, or oils from our skin. Without wanting to sound "funny" - but do you put your hands in your tank often?
My skimmer stops skimming every time I feed pellets - meaning that as soon as the pellets go into the skimmer (my skimmer is fed directly from my tank's overflow pipe)......

Also - when I work in the tank often, then my skimmer also stops temporarily.....

What is your SG level in the tank at the moment? If the level is low, the skimmer could also possibly stop skimming....

i have been puttin my hand in the tank often.
mayb i will refrain from doin that unless i really need to.
u perhaps know why exactly the oil from our skin does this?or from the pellets?

    my sg is 1.023

I agree with the hands in the tank the skimmer "slows" down - caused form the oils on ones hands and arms - try getting yourself one of those aquarium "grab" arms.

check your SG if it is low is will definitly slow the skimmer.
Add fish one at a time with a week inbetween to give the bacteria time to catch up - two weeks is even better.

your tank is looking way cool so far - you will get there soon enough, just be patient!

i need to get myself some gloves rather, instead of the grabbers.
    unpowdered gloves.
    SG is 1.023.
was advised that i should dose bacteria, after adding a new fish.
