    Hi,
Can you help we are in the process of completing the installation of our marine tank. The question as been asked at to whether the Skimmer supplied which is a Reef Octopus Xtreme 160XZ will be able to cope with the tank which is a 1000lit marine tank. I know it is 160 Gallons converted to +- 600Lit (i think) Help!!

Thats skimmer wont cope with that size tank, why not look at the RO bubble blaster range.

Posting from phone so i hope it goes thru...the "norm" seems to be x2.. Including sump...if your tank is 1000L including sump..then look for a Skimmer rated 2000L up...if its without sump volume..then add that amount to the 1000L and then x2... I will even go so far as to say..add a few Litres into that...say anything between 200-400l maybe...its basically "future proofing" your Tank..for that extra Fishes or especially SPS coral..as many end up going full reef..

Some examples...bare in mind I have no idea what the TOTAL volume of you'r Tank is...so these are between 1000L to 2000L...:p..also keeping in mind that I have no idea whether it will end up a Full Blown Reef or a Softy Tank...

I had the OCTX200 on a 600lt mixed system and it did perfectly, it outperformed my aquamedic TF5000 baby which kept my 5ft with sps going ok aswell,

I have no gripes with recomending the octx160 as its so close in rating to the 200. So I suppose it comes down to what you are wanting to achieve.

If i may add that this skimmer is better than most i have seen being used (off forum) for a tank of this size) the people on the forum are more quality/perfectionist driven and thus will recomend medium-top quility equipment...

if your budget allows definatley go bigger....
