    Incredible!
He has a rather elaborate array of LED's. Wonderhow long he experimented before settling on that combination.

Love it. If only Cree would open a manufacturing plant in SA and we could buy these things for the equivalent of what the yanks do. R5 an LED, that sounds about right to me. Or the rand need to strengthen a little against the dollar, something like 1/1.

Hie tank is only 17 inches deep, from surface to substrate. That is about 430mm as we know .
    testing his PAR readings

    http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1965294

Got good readings. In my view. But what is interesting is that at surface the PAR reading is almost 2900. That is I think about the same as 250W MH. 150W is about 2000 if I remember correctly.

But waht is interestin, at the height of his SPS corals, 7 inches below, that is 178mm below water surface. The PAR reading dropped to 1200. About 40% left.

PAR reading on substrate is 200, and according to the owner perfect for softies and LPS.

Wonder what the reading would be at 500, 550 and 600mm below surface.

    Interesting Thread.

I have a family member with family and ties in China. Could someone send me some specs, then I can use them as an agent to source and supply us in bulk if we all got together.... What you guys think?

So comparing Sims PAR reading at the bottom and this guy, then his LED light unit is on par with a 250 MH.
Yip, then I do agree, Led lightning is here. And can do the PAR readings we need. soon they will catch up with 400w MH. And every couple of months new LEDs that is better and cheaper comes along. I reckon another 2 years max, and it will be LED fixtures will be common place and similarly priced than MH units and T5 combo units.

    Hold those thumbs.
