I have a single female goldie and would like to get another 2 females to keep her company.
Is this a good idea or will the resident female attack the newcomers?
Would it help if the new goldies are smaller then the established female?

if you add a few more females they should be fine and chances are that your female will be the dominate one and turn into a male, as the dominate female goldie will undergo a sex change when the male dies or when no male is present (most of the time but not always), it will help if the ones you add are slightly smaller.
