Try catching the bulb and pushing it to one side .... the connecting contact pins should be spring loaded ... while one way lift the bulb out from the opposite side .... Same procedure in reverse to put the new one in .... hope this helps

Thanks very much. It's the first time I had to remove a MH bulb and I was worried I may break it. It was really stiff to remove but I managed to get it out.

    Thanks again.

Just remember not to touch the bulb with fingers, the oil from our skin concentrates the heat and can cause the bulb to crack, if you have to touch it use a paper towel or latex gloves

Thanks, but it was cool. For some reason it was not on so I thought maybe it had blown. But once I took it out and replaced it again it worked so I;m not sure what the problem was,

100% correct ..... My bad not to mention this ..... Sorry Albert .... This rule apply's even when the bulb is "cool" .... The oils remain on the surface of the bulb and when it fires up again there will be a "sweet spot" on the bulb caused by these oils from fingers ..... then sadly no more bulb:( .... So no touching of the bulb with naked fingers ...... Besides sometimes they will crack while taking out or replacing it and from a safety point of view ... better to go with dallasg's suggestion

This could be just the connecting contacts building up mildew or corrosion ... remove the bulb again and just brush them up .... others sooner or later you might get them building up enough to reach the housing of the fitting .... then ..... bbbbzzzzz:tt2:

Thanks will do so, and I'll also give the bulb a good clean to remove any oils etc. before firing it up

    Thanks Dallas and Chikaboo.
