Silicates from plastic

    I added a new flow pump to my tank.
    It would appear that i have now had a break out of diatoms.

    I read somewhere plastics release silicates. Is this true?

    Not sure about silicates, but this is a bit of an interesting read...Beware Rubbermaid trash cans

    The plastic product in question is Tunze band, i belive its made from aquarium safe material :p
