    Hi all

    I have a 1.6x0.7x0.7m display tank, with a 1.2x.0.7x0.25m sump.
I use a dsb, LR, cheato, carbon, phosphate reactor and a AM3000 skimmer.
What would the signs be of over stocking?

    Currently I have:
    2xclowns (oscelaris)
    2xbangai cardinals
    1xpurple fire fish
    1xleopard wrasse
    1xyellow tail spotted wrasse
    1xblue cheeked goby
    1xyellow tang(m)
    1xregal tang(m)
    1xnaso tang(m)
    1xpowder brown tang(m)
    1xcoral beauty
    1xpotters angel
    3xblue green chromis
    1xmidas blenny
1xpurple fish (almost like a midas, but more luer atrebutes)

    2xcleaner shrimp
    2xfire shrimp
    2xcleaner starfish
    1xlongspine sea urchin

    Lots of coral...
    1xmagnifica anenome(L)
    1xbubble tip (xs)

I'm currently feeding 5 times a day to make sure everyone gets something to eat.
I have diatoms, small patch. The current tank has been running for 5 months.
But 1/3 of the stock is from my old tank, which was running for 2 years.
Most of the LR and sand was from the old tank.

all can be happy. But when the power goes out, you will have decreased oxygen levels quite quickly. So beware - Eiskom.

4 small feedings during the day, if the pellets are lucky they will reach the sand.
Frozen food at night with nori for evryone that was to slow during the day.

I have a battery that runs for 24hours with 1 of my returns connected, 4000l per hour flow.

signs of overstocking would be very sick fish and terrible water conditions. If your fish are happy and you can keep ur water pristine you should be fine

I think you're pretty much on your limit with regards to fish stocking level, especially with all those tangs in there, when they reach adult size they are going to increase your bioload a bit. A good big skimmer is essential on tanks with lots of fish in. How's your skimmer doing? With your current bioload you should ideally be emptying your skimmer cup every 3 or 4 days.

I'm not skimming wet, so the cup is never full, just 1/4th of the way, but I clean it twice a week.
But the AM cups are huuuugggeee. I have a ts2 not doing anything, might hook that up aswell.

neil something to consider is the amount of oxygen available to those fish in the event of a power outage.. while the power is on you will be fine but power outages are a killer..

secondly it depends on your filtration and maintenance as a whole, but cyaneo outbreaks , GHA are things that i would attribute to a failing filtration system or one that is nearing its load limit..

the fact that the food gets eaten before it hits the ground isnt he problem, its that new food has been added to the closed enviroment.. eaten or uneaten it is a pollutant and needs to be serviced either by skimmer or waterchanges..

i dont could inverts in my stocking list as waste contributors but more as part of filtration... the fish are what i look at most and id say 19 fish are fine (size dependant) a big naso eg could be equal to 4 med chromis)

    Thanx Leslie

Do you not think 1 return pump of 3500L would be enough?
My return pump runs for 24hours when the pump goes out. Will maby
Use an extra skimmer, and increase the waterchanges. I thought the slight patch of
Diatoms is due to the tank being relatively new..?

The current tank is 4-5months old, but the LR was from my
previous tank. I cycled the tank without light, so I have no gha.

With my previous tank (without cyano for more than a year),
I used bio digest and bio tim for 2 months and had cyano for 8 months afterwards.
So with my new tank I'm keeping it simple, and not fixing if its not broken.
