I am sick of my boxing shrimp, the first 5 months was cute watching him searching for food with his million arms but now he just wants fresh fish, i constantly have to rescue my new weak recovering anthia from him, he grabs the fish and just doesnt let go!!! I always stand there watching skunk cleaners cleaning ppl's hands wishing i could have some but no, i have a pissed off shrimp!!:censored:

I need to catch him, need ideas please......thanks guys

Just kidding, you can easily catch it with a fish trap, it is probably even easier in the evening.
You may find that it is less of a problem if you increase your feeding, we have about 15 fish in a tank with a pair of CBS including about seven goldies. Try feeding more meaty foods for a while such as mysids and fish eggs, the fish eggs also help the goldies colouring up. Then introduce the fish trap and leave it open for a few days, then put some fish eggs or mysids in the back of the fish trap late in the afternoon and then be patient. If you have a fish trap with a feeding tube you could syringe in some brine shrimp (frozen or live).

You can make them out of perspex or glass, perspex is easier. With a sliding door that slides up at the entrance with some gut attached. If you drill a hole at the back on the top to tightly slide in airline tubing it can be used to syringe in brine shrimp. Drill a hole on each side a third fom the back to which an old impeklor shaft (or skewer) can be inserted to skewer a piece of shrimp or mussel.
I would suggest the trap be about 20 to 30 cm long, 15 cm + high and 10 cm wide.

for a homemade fish trap that has worked very well. It has been passed around between various AMAS members.

Use a 2L coke bottle. Cut the top part off, big enough for the shrimp to climb in, but not any of your fish. Attach some fishing line to the bottle and chuck a small piece of hake or clam inside. Place the bottle horizontal near the spot he normally sits and wait for him to walk in for a bite to eat. As soon as he walks in pull the fishing line so that the bottle lifts vertical and presto.

You need really small nutcrackers to break the claws, be careful not to overcook it
