Hi, I purchased 3 female Lyretail Athias about a month ago. Last week I noticed the larger one seemed a bit off, lying on the ground now and again in the same spot but I saw they sometimes do this to rest?

On close inspection I can see that he looks blocked/clogged, also she is swollen and a bit red around the anus. It also looks kinda black inside her abdomen around the area.

Is this related to some kind of parasite or does anyone have any input on this.

She really does not seem to be affected by it too much but is lethargic now and again.

I also noticed that when she eats a minute or so later she spits out a lot of the food, maybe that is just her being greedy and trying to get all the food before the others get it?

You can use metronidazole for internal parasites

What and how often are you feeding?

Feeding 2 times daily, frozen brine shrimp, mysis, formula one and then some flakes now and again.

Try and squeeze in a extra feed per day if you can. Feed a little less but more often.

Also try lobster eggs and reef paste.

Will do, but it looks like she eats, any idea what can be wrong with her, some kind of parasite or infection?

Could be. But anthius are plankton eaters. Normally they suffer from not being constantly feed.

You can mix metronidazole with the food. Give it a shot, but spread the feeding as well

Thanks for the input guys, but she did not make it, I think the stress with the power being out caught her and being sick already was just too much.
