I got a GBTA the other day. looked healthy and all okay. put it in my tank quite high up in a rad place. but the thing is it doesnt come out! whats up with that? i am able to drop some food into the hole and i see it eat it greedily! but she dont come out! howcome?

also the next day i put the anem in, my female black clown went MIA, the anem would not have chowed it hey?

the manclown has not found it yet so its not hosting.

Give it some time,it needs to get use to your lighting probably...you shouldve actually placed it at the bottom of the tank to start .....was it in a tank with very low light before you got it?

How was it acclimated? What is your salinity? Do you happen to know what the salinity was where you got it from? What are your other water parameters?

What was the lighting at its previous home? Does the anemone come out after the lights go out?

It is not very likely that the anemone ate the clownfish unless the clownfish was sick. How long was the clownfish in the tank before the anemone? Check the floor, perhaps it was spooked. Also check the over flow and sump. How big is this hole that the anemone is in? Any chance the clownfish is in there with it…alive and well?

honestly my salinity might be a bit high as i dont have an auto top up.

i do not know salinity of the lfs, i acclimtaised it for around 20minutes - dripping.

    its in biorock - [IMG]

doubt the clown is in there unless it loves it and never comes out?

Slowly get the salinity to 1.026.

It's best to slowly acclimate anemones. I wouldn't do less than an hour. Normally I do it in about 2 hours.

Keep an eye on it. Make sure the intakes are protected. Newly introduced anemones like to roam.

Ive heard of a few guys actually taking the anemone and clown and putting them in a small container for a few hours so that the fish is forced to be in contact with the nennie to hide and once it gets use dot he nennie for a few min then when placed back into the tank they take to the nennie properly.

This can be done but make sure you do water changes to the container every ten min or drip tank water through it to maintain tank like water conditions constantly.Oh and Obviously you wouldnt wanna dislodge the nennie from his rock,so the whole rock may have to go but in your case this doesn't seem feasible right now so maybe only try it once it moves on to a small rock.
