My system is 500L DT, 200L sump. TS2 pump packed up. Wanting to focus more on SPS. I have enough space in my sump. Should I consider upgrading to a TS3?

you should rather upgrade to the NW series as they are better skimmers than the standard TS. You will need a good skimmer to keep SPS.. I would recommend a bubble blaster though but Im sure you could get away with a NW with some enkamat :)

otx 160 is too small for a 500L tank IMO rather get the OTX200 if u can find it or a bubble blaster 3000 if u can afford it much better in the long run.

    I disagree, for a 750lt+ tank,then you cutting it thin. not for a 500lt

I'm running the OCTX160 on my 500L, and it performs like a beast! Definitely look into one of these! Superb skimmers!

I have a Octx200, one of the the best skimmers I owned. The Octx a bit smaller but uses the same reliable Sicce 2500 pump.

Ok - looked around a bit

The Octx160 is available - cannot find the 200.

But the Bubble Blaster 3000 (althought expensive and a bit of an overkill) seems like a VERY good skimmer?

The Bubble Blaster 3000 is almost double the price of the Octx160!

Does anybody think this skimmer is worth the difference in price?

i will rock the boat here, nothing wrong with a TS3 skimmer at all, i would say its perfect.
remember the ratings arent always that accurate, i have 2 TS3's one old model rated 1200L or so, and now the new ones are saying 700L, same skimmer, just changed to make the new range look better and sell

i have a ts3 with a spiderweb mod on the impeller and i will put it up against any of the skimmers on the market and it will compete favourably

OTX160...depending on how much you can get a secondhand TS3 , you can consider an OTX160, looking for around R2k for mine. but skims the shit out of my tank literally.
