    Hi guys

Ok, so the 3foot tank and sump I bought the other day has been put in storage (my dining room table). :)
we decided that I will start with the setup only next year.
Have some stuff to do and going away for a while at the end of the year so it will be best

In the mean time, my wife found a used TL450 for sale that was being used for freshwater fish.

I need some help with this please:

1)I have tried to reassemble the protein skimmer but am almost certain either parts Re missing or I did not do something right as it does not really skim. if anyone has an assembly guide or a picture of what it should look like I will really appreciate it.

2)Replaced the bulbs, but where do I get the blue LEDs? Can I pick up any blue 9 volt LEDs from an electronics shop?

3)Where does the ceramic rings and bio balls etc go... I just filled them all over.... In 1st and last compartment... Also, is the carbon necessary?

    4) what do I do now while it cycles... Do I do or add anything, or just top up water

Anyway... All of the above aside.... I got a couple kgs live rock and some RO water and playsand ( thanks for the heads up on cleaning "washed" playsand) :(

But this is day 1of the cycle to me owning my own little piece of a reef

    The tank this morning:

After a day of hard labour and some TLC:

Water is still a bit cloudy... Pic was taken after less then 30 mins of cycling:

Nice start, I find the secret to nano's is letting the cycle start and dose bacteria. For tanks less than 150L I use prodibio bioclean salt

Hi Shiraz. Could you clarify, you have RO but did you mix the salt and check the salinity yet?

Hi Bendor. Bought the premixed water. Have not checked anything yet.... Will get a test kit the weekend unless it is critically important to have before

Ok so the rock in the from has hair like algae ( good or bad?)

Just saw a small white work crawl around on the 1 rock before swimming/being blown around the tank ans settling on and crawling into another rock ( good or bad?)

Some of the rocks have little white dots (good or bad?)

    Please excuse my ignorance :)

If any of the above is bad - what do I do about it?

Thanks Dallasg. Will get the sachem stability. Not in a hurry to do anything right now.... Plan to leave it for at least a month to 6 weeks before adding any livestock

Just wanted to know if it was good or bad.....

Seachem stability is a must. Used it in my nano. Check in the forum part under the Boyu section there is a lot of info regarding what goes where in the back compartments. I did it like they said in those forums and my TL450 ran great. I think carbon is very important but have a look there.

    Hi

Tank has been cycling for 4 weeks and I have been using seachem stability daily for the last week to speed things up
