    Hi reefers

This morning this awaited me in one of the holding aquariums.

    This is mom

She is 3 months + in captivity now.

This is my question - could this egg be fertile?

WOW Moolis! Of course! Shark's have a gestation period of up to 12 months..... so - this shark could have been copulated in the wild still.....

What are your plans for it? Where are you going to find an aquarium to keep the the lovely creature?

    firstly - THANK YOU ALL

Successfully spawned damsels, clowns, Euphelia sp. (not fraging), Suncoral (also not fraging) and now shark. It is awesome to know that the livestock we keep enjoy what we do for them!

    Regarding what where when how???

This fish was imported by another LFS, we got it because it was to big for the customers aquarium and it was between destroying it or taking it in at Pet Stop and finding a good home for it. At present SHE is an 1800x600x650 aquarium with a large yellow tail foxfase/rabbit in the shop. But this could not go on for a unlimited period, we will need the space SOON.

If there are a good home out there come and talk to me, she are very healthy and eat like a PIG (dirty & a lot :)) even taking food out of our hands.

You can check the egg by holding it up to the light and looking through it. There should be a large yolk and a tiny attached embryo (like a tadpole). If it is fertile the embryo gradually gets larger and the yolk smaller. Remember to ensure the water does not drain out and if some leaks out ensure the air does not come into contact with the embryo and flush/squeeze out the air under the water.

That´s good news. My LFS, when I was still living in Germany, also experienced this.
We could watch the larvaes development until it hatched. Amazing to see those things.
The Marine Research Aquarium in Seapoint got plenty of cat shark eggs. The all hanging along the edge from their tank. One hatched and the small one looks like the adults. Please post some pics when the new shark is "arrived".

    Fertile

I can see the egg-yolk (eier geel) but the mother are so active that i do not get sufficient time to look closer.

Will look again in 2 to 3 weeks.

    What is the gestation period?
