For the last couple of weeks I've tested the NSW @ the 2 oceans aquarium and found it to be at 1.028! Can this be correct? My Refractometer is correct and i've calibrated it every time I test the water. What have you found with your NSW elsewhere in SA?

    Wow that is high!
I usually get a SG of 1.024-1.025 here in Durbz.

Don't know how they keep the water, but if kept in a container can it not be because of continuous evaporation and filling up with new water regularly? Like the same that happens if you top up your tank with saltwater? Or is the water pumped directly from the ocean?

As far as I know it's pumped from the ocean and then filtered, etc. You might have a point there Tobes, it makes sense what you're saying.

Its good that you checked. I got the same reading about two months ago when temperatures in Cape Town were high.

Bizarre bro! I just collected 100L this morning and I tested it this afternoon and all 4 drums gave me 1.028!? I'll have to take some to my LFS to see if my Refractometer is busted but I doubt it as it's practically brand new!!

I just spoke to a LFS who uses 2 Oceans NSW and they dilute it as they're aware of the high sg levels. Friggin heck, now I'll have to get a RO unit...
