    Hey Guys,

I started off with 3 snails in my 4-foot tank and 6 months down the line I have close to 30 of them - and they are really awesome algae gobblers !!

So my dilema is that i need to "get rid" of some of them. I offered some to some fellow reefers but still have a few I need to go.

I contcated 2 LFS in JHB to ask if they were interested in buying some off me and they were ... "no we can't it's illegal" .... one of the places had told me about 3 months ago that if I had excess snails I should bring them in and he would buy them from me, now his tune has changed ....

    - why can they not buy from us ?
    - why can I not sell these snails (they are tank bred)
    - what am I going to do with so many snails if I can't get rid of them ?

Give Rob a call at Idol Marine @Vicsa. I would've gladly bought some from you. If they are mexican turbo snails that came in from a shipment then it's ok to sell the offspring.

@carlosdeandrade this is what you posted on a previous post where I put some pictures up of the snails: "Those are snails of the Trochidae family, Trochus genus. They are prolific breeders and, personally, the best algal grazers. They tend to get nailed by fish who eat molluscs as they can't turn upright if the fall over. I have also found that they are fairly hardy. It's time to share. :D"

Yes, I remember. I think LFS are sceptical about taking them off your hands because of the genus. We have a species of Trochus here in South Africa.
