    Good Day All,

Just want to know how do you guys keep the purigen in the reactor? Its so fine and go right throug the sponge... can you put the purigen in a womans stocking and then place it in the reactor? Will this work?

Hi there, you can also use the ones come sealed in a micro bag which is just as effective

i think you guys are missing the underlying question.

can it be placed in a reactor?

Put the media in "The Bag" from seachem and then add it to a reactor in the last chamber.....or just chuck it in the last chamber of your sump and knee it every 5 days.

The bag is R130...it will work much better and last very long

yip...purigen is very fine....running that in a reactor and hoping for the best wont work...i also did that once.
I ended up with 250ml in the sump, try and scoop that up with a net:p

Just a question, why use the purigen in the bag and then in the reactor, it just seems like a waste unless you think that a slow flow rate is required

Purigen is so small and fine, makes it a k@k job to handel and clean the reactor, and clean the filtering part, its just a mess, think it will be much easier to handel in a bag...

Just to confirm, Purigen can be placed in a bag in the return section off the sump, just floating... just needs to shake the bag around every 3 day???:confused1:

Yes, you dont need a reactor. The bag can be placed directly in the sump, hence my question why you still want to bother with a reactor for this.

U can sump it but wont be nearly as effective. It wont turn brown as quickly meaning its less effective than in a reactor

When you refer to a reactor, what type of reactor would this be? AFAIK, purigen works best in a flow through type reactor, i.e. something like a cannister filter of hang on filter. Personally I would not advise fluidised reactors.

I just run Purigen and Phosguard in a hang on filter in my sump. Works well and easy to get to.
