    Hi Guys,

I was at an LFS yesterday and had an intresting convo with one of the staff that has been in the maintenance game for a few years. He mentioned that guys have been experimenting with Seachem Prime and Alpha to combat cyno and have had good results with the cyno dying off after a few days. His own experience with using it was that cyno died off after four days. He attributed it to it being a declorinator and ability to remove amonia etc. He even wen as far as mentioning that Seachem cannot explain why it works so well. Although I hold his advice in high regard as an experienced reefer, I am hoping for more experience with the use of it to combat cyno.

Has anyone heard of these claims or has any experience with this.

i cannot see how it would work, as oxidizing the local area kills it off, maybe i should see the ingredients and look in to it...

what you can use is 0.2ml of hydrogen peroxide in the center mass

I agree with @dallasg, cyno is a bacteria, and you will get it were there is dead spots, the cyno feed on the waste until its gone... try getting more flow and use an air pump with an airstone in the sump...

I used this recently and the results were fantastic, all cyano was gone in about 4 -5 days, and almost 2 months later still no sign of cyano.

    Your LFS should have it
