    Hi Guys,

Wanting to look at which sea-horses are currently available. Thought this weekend might make a nice JHB shop to shop experience. Any sponsors with stock or any sea-horse sightings at shops would be appreciated.

If you know of a supplier that has stock but is not a MASA sponsor please send me a PM in order to avoid any flaming :)

    Thank you

    Andre

Thanks Wukkie found the thread - I have mailed BOB and I am hoping he replies, they look great although slightly pricey but as Steve mentions fair price for captive bred Sea Horses

if you want seahorses get the ones from Idol as they are captive bred and are eating. Pointless getting a wild one for R500 and it does not eat :)

    Hi Tremayn,

I am already giving home to just under a 100 captive bred seahorses. All the large ones are on frozen food and the "dwarf" eat newly hatched brine shrimp. The idea is to get a larger number of Captive bred Seahorses at a lower price for our market.

I would most definitely consider buying those guys if they are still available. Can't agree more with wild one's not eating. :)

Considering the goal of having CB seahorses available that are healthy and eating frozen foods at a suitable price, maybe Bob will consider a swap. If another buyer takes them they might not breed.

Seahorses are very fragile & need a bit more attention than keeping a little nano. Research as much as possible before you even bother getting any seahorse. Every species diet varies especially baby seahorses, some can take live enriched BBS from birth & some can't take BBS then need tiny live rotifer instead. Please research research research as much as possible. You'll find some great info here
http://www.seahorse.org but don't stop there google as well.

I had 4 tiger tail (H.comes) & because they were wc I had a hard time trying to get them to eat & never had & couldn't find live food. I now have various cultures BBS & rotifer but would like to get tigapods as well but very hard to find here in the Cape. Since loosing the 4 ponies I have researched alot & have done my homework for over a year & have a massive file archive on my HDD which I go through often. Some may think it's a bit too much but I'd rather be safe than sorry. I feel I'm better prepared now & ready to start over & keep/breed several species of both seahorses & pipefish.

@Swimmer I'll get back to you as soon as I'm setup & ready.
    Michael
