Sea Grass and Other Algaes

Where can i get sea grass and other good algaes?
can i get them locally?

The problem with them is they don't seem to last long in our tank and you must also get them with all the roots.

cool, i am trying to get a sea grass tank to start, it will be connected to my 1mx1m dsb, so i think after a month or so of running i can add them

I've tried the green grass type algae we get all around EL, cant say if it would survive or not as my hermits devoured it within a day...maybe its some hermit crab delicacy?? I have had the red almost lettucey type in my tank for about 2 weeks now and its still alive, hasnt died back or grown either so still waiting on that one.

I've been looking for a suitable macro algae for herbivorous fish thats not as risky as caulerpa.

Just make sure you do your homework on the different types of algaes as some of them can be noxious, become a pest in your tank, release build up chemicals etc. Also, algae needs to be acclimated the same as fish as they can die because of sudden salinity and temp changes - don't forget that
