so as previously discussed...a DSB would be a lil overkill for a fish only tank. But ill go the fish only....pre reef route.

So which would be the best sea bed to use? WHich substrate and in which layer design?

And if i live more up country...and cant get seasand? lol

wetty some guys use seasand only, some only argonite, but if sea sand
isnt available then argonite and sea sand alone would be good,
i decided that i would make use of 3 layers, the guys collect the sea sand merely
cos they contain live critters :)

Floating above the sea bed or in it?

no andreas not inside in terms of under the sand, ive seen pictures of it from the surface of the DSB to lengths to the surface of the water

Let me rephrase. Im talking bout the actual seabed in the tank....not in the sump tank.

ok in this case i retract my statements

for you DT substrate you can use either argonite or playsand (cheaper option), but
play sand needs to be washed many a times to clean it up to its whiter consistancy
, i will be going play sand as well :)

Iv got the playsand...needa get the arogonite now

how much did the play sand cost you and where did you buy it from, toys r us quoted me R40 for 20Kg play sand
