    Hi guys

Does anyone have a scooter blenny? What is your opinion about them? I have quite an algae problem and read they eat algae and at the same time they are nice to look at?

I had a little scooter in my RSM250 - it was too small to really make any difference with the algae (snails were much better) but it was a fantastic fish to watch. Loads of personality. Swear it used to watch me even more than I watched it!

"Scooter blenny" is a reason why common names suck. They're dragonets (Callionymidae), not blennies (Blenniidae). Same genus as mandarins, with the same care. They don't eat algae. If you want an algae eater then go for a true blenny, like a Cirripectes sp. or Salarias sp.

Maddy, from your other threads I see you're having some algae issues in your tank? Whilst it is always a good idea to have clean-up-crew in your tank, you may be fighting a losing battle if you are not treating the source of the problem, perhaps gives us a few more details if you are having problems then we can all help you and maybe figure out where the problem is. :)
