    Hi Guys

This must have been discussed before but i just what to tell you what i have experienced

We all have return pumps that run 24h a day, and say u your pump is 4000L/h and is rated @ 150Watt that a lot of power been used, i bought the same LPH pump @Submariner but it runs @ 55 Watt that's a 3rd of the power needed to run the same LPH.

So hopefully my power cost will come down.

Well that should save you around R83 a month according to my tariffs in my area. So the question is more how long will it take you to pay off that pump before you are truly saving money?

That's not bad at all. What pump is it? Would love to see some specs on it.

Its possible. You get some very inefficient pumps. I use a 4800LPH that takes 145W.

sicce is know for their "fuel" efficient pumps...or so i think...

just the initial investment to purchase one throws one off balance..lol. I have the hailea, not very efficient i think...but may upgrade at a later stage with the hailea being spare...

who meeee...lol. Am sure that one was for @wez...

That is a reason for me to swop over to leds as I have 4 x 54w T5's...also 8 to 9 hrs a day...to replace the tubes is also out...as I want to use the same money in a diy led build...

my 3 Vertex ilimlux (39 watt) each they knock the shit out of T5 and for half the price of running them, yes i know u are going to say but the LEDs are 2 K each, but no replacing of bulbs and the leds have 12 year life span so LED all the way

I notice my heaters are running virtually 24/7 this winter thats 500W / h. Looking to insulate my sump ( havent put cladding round stand yet). Also putting styrofoam covers on at night may be an idea?

that were i have solved my heating problem but temperature controller it helps a lot because the heater is only switched on when the temp gets to 25c and switches of @ 25.5c so my temp is always around 25.3-25.5
