Overflow finished.pipe running to the sump at the back so taking up minimum space.
There was an bit of a mistake...the return hole is sitting to the left of the overflow so it would have been better to turn the sump around to have the overflow pipe run to the right into the inlet chamber and then the return to the left.the pipes are going to cross now...but I will make it work

Going to finish installing the return pipe this evening and hopefully tomorrow the tank will be filled with substrate and live rock and water.

    Another thing i noticed..
The overflow box is made of tinted glass. Unfortunately not so dark and the overflow pipe is visible through the glass.I am left with 2 options.

1- Put some black perspex on the inside of the overflow box to hide the pipe.
2- Hide most of the overflow box with rock work.

    Anyone want to weigh in?

Algae growth would eventually cover the overflow box. I do not clean my back glass, prefer to leave the growth there as food for the snails.

Alternative would be to stick a piece of black ABS plastic sheet to the outside front of the glass.

I saw videos that had this method. I just added a ball valve, adjusted that till the noise stopped (takes some time), had to add more water into the system to meet the needs of the return. Now I enjoy a silent system.

This is a first for me.i have seen allot of tanks drilled at the bottom and then the water falls all the way down the overflow box.My whole overflow box will be filled and then into the pipe opening at the top.

Now i am just waiting to let the silicon on the bulkheads set and hopefully tonight the sand and rock will find their way into the tank with the water and the cycle will begin.
