    Hey guys,

So I have seen these spots on some of my sps corals. Really thought I had nudis but I always dip my corals and also could not see any sign of nudis. So after a lot of stress and coral dipping I found a post on the net saying that salt creep falling on corals, can actually damage them and I clicked. I actually cleaned my bracing and some salt creep must have fallen on some of my corals. So anyone with a similar experience or do I need to go back to the drawing board?

Its hard to take pics as the spots are barely visible, but they are there.

    Hi Charl,

It looks like your tank has a lot of flow, I doubt that the spots are caused due to salt falling on your coral. It'll most likely dissolve or be pushed around before even touching your coral...

Unless you have salt creep the size of like a mountain or something?

It's a possibility I suppose. What about kalk, do you dose kalk? That is known to burn corals.

Have you used Aiptasia X by any chance? I had a similar problem a while ago when some landed on one of my SPS frags by accident.

It is really potent stuff, but has done an amazing job in my system. Hope you find out what it is!

A large part of Aiptasia X is kalk, so yes you need to be careful

Can you post a pic of it? Could maybe be something nipping it?
I've had detritus settle on my montis and cause dead spots but never had it on any branching corals.

Sorry for the bad pic, but this is what the monti looks like.Looks like its recovering. will take pics of other corals tonight. Checked again last night and definitely no nudis. I think it might have been a KH issue. Tested last night and was a little low. Other parameters are all fine.
