Hi to everyone,i went to a local nursey/petshop today, they have a sml section of marine as well,i just asked one of the employers what their salinity is in their tanks,he showed me their Refractometer with water in it,looked and it sat at 1.030,i cleard the water and took fresh water for a test,it read 1.032,he then showed me their log book with all the tanks tests, almost all the tanks read 1.028-1.033?????
Is this right or a big worry to buy from them?
The fish and inverts look happt though...

It will add stress as sea water fish are constantly drinking and urinating so it might affect kidneys, I might have got freshwater and saltwater mixed up

If you buy from them you will have to acclimate fish over several hours etc

But no all literature points to 1,024 to 1,027

Most lilely their refractometer is out of calibration!
Salinity higher than 1.030 can kill a lot of marine inverts & corals...
Also, you should make sure if its a atc refractometer!
