Dunno what is happening as it is the first time I have ever experienced this- and yes, I was sober when all these tests was done.

When I tested the salinity last week, it tested at 1024, on Wednesday it tested 1026, and when we tested yesterday, it was testing at 1029. How can this be , as I still use the same auto top up I always used and have not added any new saltwater for the last month.

Surely there is something not going well here. I use a refractometer and I wash it after every test. I also test it with Freshwater and it seems to test right.

    Any ideas????

Stupid question but do you use RO water to recalibrate also how old are the RO filters? Also what effects SG? Tempreture? Time of day? Lights?

    Does your refractometer have ATC

A refractometer without ATC will give different readings at different times of the day. Take a clean vial of RO water and float it in your tank for 10-15 minutes. Place some of the water on the refractometer and set it to zero. Now you can test your salinity

Mike, it is the exact same top up as well as container (150lt) I always used, nothing new.

It just does not make sense, even the cheapie salinity tester test the same as the refractometer.

Will find out from the wife if she might have done a waterchange- but I doubt it.

    Spooky stuff dude.

It surely cannot be from the saltcreep I had on the canopy etc- I scraped it off- but I doubt it is enough to raise the salinity??????

Just do a quick taste test on the top up water, failing that can you get to a decent lfs and have them test (or someone else near you)

Didn't sean say he was keeping his SUMP running? In which case perhaps this is what he's referring to...
