Salinity of LFS

    Hi guys

    What should the salinity level of salt water that is pre mixed at your LFS be? I got this weekend and i tested at home and it was 1.030 ?? Is this not to high?

    I got a refractometer> They said it was the best?

    It was sitting in a 25L drum for a day without circulation...does that make a difference?

    only the tempreture would make a difference.

    Have you calibrated the refractometer? Or at least tested normal tap water with it? Should read 0 or damn near close to it. If so then yes it is a bit high, but no problem, just dilute it with some RO water. Recommended levels are normally between 1.024 and 1.026

    Temperature makes a difference...

    Its tricky getting the perfect salinaty for customers if the mix was done recently, got to curculate and warm the solution and test,.
    Some customers ask for it at 1.023 and some insist it to be 1.026...

    Its great that you test , warm the 25 liters with a spare heater and add R.O to get the salinity to what you need it to be.
