    Hi guys,

Yes, i have the dreaded question, I added a Sailfin on Thursday and seemed happy till today, I'm seeing signs of white spot ???

Obviously trying to catch will just stress him and all other tank mates ???

    Hey

I would get him out and then prey the whitespot has not infected your tank.
You do not want that cyst to fall of!!!

    Good luck

    Hi Sammy,

Are you running a full Reef? What other inmates do you have in the tank, corals?

I dont wanna give advise that may be not be correct! I had an outbreak a couple of times when I 1st started out, what I did (and this did work both time with all fish surviving and nothing else dying) but I did not have many corals in and only 4 or 5 fish in the system. 2 things that I did and over a 2 odd day period was raise my temp to 28 or 29 degrees. Then in conjuction with this I also dropped my salinity to 1.018 - 1.016.

You are right about not wanting to stress the fish out anymore and try make sure to get the best healthiest food that it will eat, and keep it eating, it needs its stregth to fight off this disease!

Some more info on your setup would help!

@Sammy Sailfins are hardy and have a fairly decent slime coat. I highly doubt that if its white spot it will cuase your sailfin to perish so just let it be for now and monitor him, as well as the other tangs you have. Its common for fish that have just been added to get a little bit of whitespot in the first few days and if he is being fed well and conditions are good then expect the symptoms to clear up soon.
    Your tank looks lovely
