Hi guys. My desjardini sailfin has been acting very weird these past few days. He swims like his drunk, unaware about his surroundings. Ignoring all food even though he had the biggest appetite from all my fish. All my other fish are fine and eating well. Water parameters are all in order and there has been no addition of fish or changes to my tank. It's all of a sudden he is gone into this strange mode. He sits under a rock near a cleaner shrimp the entire day. Please advise what could be wrong and how I can save him. All help will be much appreciated.

Could it be that you have "stray current" ie electric shocks in your water?

They are such nice fish - not nice to know it's suffering.

No I dont have stray current. Even if I did, why is he the only fish to be affected by it. Honestly, I think he is constipated but im no professional. I have done some research but found nothing about this condition or any remedies thereby.

No he isnt blind. His still getting around in the tank and kinda acts territorial when the other tangs get close to him. Just the eating and drunken behavior. His very fat and healthy so I think he can pull thru for couple more days without food but im gona try to put him into quarantine if worse comes to worse.

Please keep us posted. I would like to know what the outcome is.

If it's parasites, the question comes to mind: do you have cleaner shrimps? I saw my sailfin yesterday getting its gills cleaned by one of my cleaner shrimps - awesome!

It could be an internal parasite. Il never know unless I disect it after he dies. I have cleaner shrimps and wrasse. Ah well, iv beem depressed already for these few days. If he goes anytime soon, maybe he will be in Madiba's tank in the afterlife. Lol.

Some good news. Sailfin started eating some pellets today. Hopefully he gets back to full health. Still a bit lethargic though but i think il try soaking some metro in his food and it could kill any parasites if he has any.
