yes I have had the same issue. I tried to claim but it was like running into a brick wall. as far as I could work out they only prepared to pay if the item is lost.

yeah. Their standard answer will be "how do we know it was not packed like that?"

How was it packaged? .... Cos in the original box wit styrafoam outers its vertually impossible to break any item house in it unless brutal force is applied

    I'm the fellow forum member.

it was packaged pretty well with the styrafoam on the sides but not at the base where I'm afraid most of the damage occurred.

Les you can upload the pics if you want.

i think you should go back and claim because if everybody just leaves it then there shipping process and care for goods arent going to change.

no it wasnt the original box unfortunatley as the unit was second hand and i had discarded the box but i had layered it with polystyrene to stiffen the box as i had to used 2 boxes to conceal the unit.. i used alot of crumpled spar packets as cusioning..

pXius saus it wasnt visible from the exterior only when he opened the parcel did he see the carnage..

Eish bud, i feel kak guy.. working on a something. still try with the PO but lets see what response we get...

I think its worth a try, i am just so upset that i have now made the effort to ensure the parcel is insured as asked for and this still happens..

The box itself obviously didn't look like a brand new box, it has some creases but nothing that would point out that the contents may be damaged.

I've been in contact with the claims department and its not looking good.

    1. I HAVE to leave the skimmer as evidence.
    2. Takes 3-6 months
    3. You claim is not guaranteed, they conduct an "investigation" and decide what amount they will cover, if any.
    4. They cover lost goods, damaged goods in the case of a) in short, the SAPO truck drives into a flipping wall and b) you can PROVE mishandling which is almost impossible because of the condition of the box (which is ok) and I can't prove to SAPO that the contents were not damaged in the first place.

At the moment I'm considering to just repair the skimmer as far as I can because the pump is still working. Waiting 6 months for a claim is a politically correct way of saying "HAHA! we haves your moneys and your not getting it back!!"

And I can't shovel out more $$$ for another skimmer as you all know, the startup phase of this hobby which has already been quite costly burns your wallet.

TRUST me...come to some agreement with the seller so you both take a smaller knock and forget it. I have been down this road with the SAPO and they will pay you nothing.

Man this sucks Les...you have the worst luck with the Post Office!

Had the same problem with my Zeo Reactor from Tony that came through the post office. Lucky it was minimal damage though with only the base plate getting chipped in two places and one of the prongs of the plunger being broken...nothing a little super glue didnt fix. :)

Guys may I suggest, when shipping delicate and expensive items, use a reputable courier service rather than the post office. I was so nervous sending Henk the Profilux he bought from me via the post office but luckily he sent a courier company to collect.

This will definitely decrease the chances of something like this happening but I have received badly damaged laptop using RAM couriers 2 years back, so it definitely doesn't make it 100% safe, but on the other other hand, insurance with a courier company would probably have been easier to sort out.

definatley on my to do list..

A courier would care more about their reputation than the SAPO, i will never use them again..
