Hey guys,

I've removed the foam sponge that initally came with the tank that was between the skimmer compartment and the compartment to the left of it (looking from the front of the tank) but now I've got a shitload of microbubbles returning into my tank through the far left compartment via the pump.

I've stopped it by putting a layer of filter floss in the way but i'm just wondering if anyone else has this? I can only assume that the bubbles are coming from the stock standard skimmer. I'm just wondering if maybe the seal between the skimmer sections has worn away and the bubbles are getting out that way... but this tank has only been in for 6 months.

If i can't get rid of the bubbles then I'm going to have to either request that I get a replacement skimmer or get a nano Tunze but I've managed to dial this bugger in perfectly and am quite happy with it otherwise.

Anybody else having this?

Are you talking about the removable plastic holder into which you put filtering wool?

Why did you remove the sponge.. If it was perfect before can't you just put it back in.

Yeah, I would if I could. It was suggested that I remove it to prevent nitrate buildup so I removed to test for a bit. Only realized the other day that my maid chucked it.

Not that one, I absolutely love that one. Works very well when you remember to swap/clean the wool out. I'm talking about those black foam block sponges that sit on the floor of the compartment.

Eish. Sorry bud.. See if you can buy a new one.. I didn't have nitrate issues with it.. Like anything just got to clean it now and again..

No worries, I'll see if I can get replacements through the LFS. Was just interested to know if anybody did the same, removed the sponges, and now has the bubbles..
