Please help.

My RSM 250 Max's skimmer pump decided ot was time to give in. I urgently need your assistance here as to where can I get a new one as I do not know how long my livestock will survive without a skimmer.

Jungle Aquatics and Wild onPets should have spare pumps for the skimmer. With regards to the livestock, can you give us a detail of your stocking levels (and how long you have been running the tank for). Your tank should be fine without a skimmer for a few days, inverts may take a knock though if the nutrient levels go too high.

Thank you tekkengal I will give them a call. I was actually in Johannesburg yesterday to buy my first live stock. Tank has been running for 5 weeks now. Stocked with yellow tang, algea blennie and yesterday I got some mushrooms and zoas from Jungle Aquatics. I am from Polokwane and when I arrived home last night I saw that the pump has gone.

Hi Francois, damn I am sorry the pump has packed up already. I feel terrible about that. I know I had a spare skimmer pump just don't recall if it was for the 130 or the 250 tank. I will scratch around to see if I can locate it and get back to you.

Hingis this is NOT your fault at all!!! I must now just wait until 09:00 and call the two stores as recommended. I just hope I can come right!!

No worries, those guys are on the ball and will be able to assist you with a skimmer pump. :) I recall Yuppie Pets also had a sale on Red Sea stock, you could also give them a call to see if they have a pump for sale.
The fish *should* be fine without the skimmer for a few days. You should however open the feeding lid and rear lid to allow more air to pass over the water as the tank water may not be as oxygenated without a skimmer. This is even more important seeing as you have a tang. Also keep an eye on the tank temperature (will also affect oxygen levels).

Good luck!

Thanks Francois, I know I bought my last skimmer pump from Lifestyle Pet Hyper at lifestyle center, as they also stock red Sea spares. I'm sure between all those shops you will definitely come right.

Thank you tekkengal. It seems that Wild on Pets will be able to help me and I might have the pump by Friday. I installed a chiller last night so temperature will not be a problem. As for your other advice ,I will do right away

All well. Thank you to Bryn from Wild on Pets. Just recieved a new skimmer pump and it is going like a Boing!! All my live stock survived. Great service Bryn!!
