RSM 130D skimmers

Take the impeller out of the skimmer.

Check the magnet is not swollen or something is not stopping the impeller from spinning.

I had a similar problem with my RSM 250 skimmer.

The magnet swelled on the impeller and the bubbles were very erratic after that.

Quite an old post, but has anyone found a solution? I don’t have a problem with the skimmer, but the pump and parts for it are soooo expensive. My pump has given up. Is there another pump that will fit this skimmer maybe, or even a totally different skimmer that has been tried and tested in the RSM139D?

Hi. I’ve used an external skimmer for many years. Bubble magus qq3. Tried a few internal skimmers but nothing worked well.

Excuse my ignorance, but how did you attach an external skimmer without an external sump?

I think a Tunze 9001 and 9004 fits in the back. Also a QQ and QQ2 skimmer should fit in the back, it is a bit better for someone on a budget compared to the Tunze.
