Ok so we made a mistake, went to a different LFS and they said we can keep they royal Dottyback, but only 1, then they wont be as agressive!!!! Well after 24 hours, we are taking him back! Keeps attacking our Damsel, but thank goodness not the clowns! Just hope we can catch the bugger. He's just so gorgeous though, but hides in the rocks and pounces as soon as the damsel swims past! Very sad to see him go!

They are well known to be aggressive, it has nothing to do with having one or two of them. Tell your LFS to catch a wake up. Try looking for a Royal Gramma, much prettier and sooooo chilled

oh thanks for the tip! Will look out for that Fish. I had researched the dottyback's before and heard they so aggresive, but shame on us for actually believing LFS. At least we have learnt, but just sorry to put this gorgeous fish through all the trauma in the process!

I spoke to LFS and they said those gramma's are abt R400 and he can order in next shipment if we want.

R400 is WAY overpriced. Tell them to take a hike. I paid R160 a few months back

if you can get a captive bred dottyback (there are a number of species which are currently being captive bred) it helps massivly with aggresion issues. for some reason they are far less aggressive than the wild caught fish.

We have seen a few captive bred orchid dottybacks at shops here, very nice looking fish and, and agreed its a good option
