if you go to the research centre in capetown they will help you at no cost. just take a litre container for some plankton and they will go out of their way to help if you are polite. a starter culture of nannochloropsis is a good place to start. if you keep that alive for a couple of weeks they will give you rotifers

Thanks mandarinman but why only after a couple of weeks, is phytoplankton that hard to culture? Want to breed ASAP, where exactly is the research place?

Hi, Rogan would like to add more to his rotifer culture, it is getting weak. His phyto is doing great. If you have enough I can boost Rogan's culture and also send to CT as I need to send to someone else there as well. I am still wanting to set some up at Bayworld, but have been struggling to get large quantities (500 litres +) of nano going due to the temperature getting too warm outside and need to sort that first.

you just want to have the phytoplankton ready to feed rotifers otherwise rotifers will die

If dv8 has enough I can send both. It is better to get the phyto up and running first though.
Marcel must have some of both and possibly other phyto's also.

Well I heard that the cultures at the research center were cross contaminated & not pure strain so would be better to find a pure strain.
