Rock pool Zoas

    Hey all,

    I was on the Kzn coast this morning and check what I found . . . Lovely colour!

    The top one's are REALLY beautiful! The bottom one's are cool! They later on develop a green face (start out brown).....

    BUT, aren't the pics upside down?

    You sure the top ones are zoas? Aren't they a type of nenny? Saw them there as well...

    Very nice. My brother in law got me some purple once also from the KZN coast.

    How do you remove these without causing too much damage ?

    I removed a very small colony probably 5cm across and had to take a piece of rock as well in order not to cause too much damage :p

    Is somebody going down to the coast? :whistling:

    I've never tried to remove any (never had a permit) so can't help you unfortunately. You should be able to scrape them off carefully with a sharp flat knife.

    Although it shouldn't be a problem taking a piece of rock, there are two problems. The authorities really frown upon removing rock and knowing my luck that Zoa will be growing on granite :p

    I am in Durban once a month ;) These zoas would give me a great excuse to make a weekend of the trip
