Carl... your son needs a proper skimmer, please help him not to neglect his tank. Real big skimmer required. N&P reactor, more live rock, about 100kg more. A waterboy ro/di unit. New sps coral from Adee. How about a .......... when I think of it I will add.:tt2:

Rob, I hope that this helps, PS get yourself 30 vials of prodibio digest and start using asap.

@ crispin, I have seen this tank on a number of occations, I love it.

There is no fast cure. But you can start here. Lighting period shortened, feeding down scale, nutrient removing pellets, harvesting the lawn regularly with filter floss in the overflow to catch the stuff, over skimming, and regular water changes to remove nutrients. But it will keep coming back until such time as the nutrients available gets lowered.

Now for the natural cure as this is natures cure a proper clean up crew, turbo snails, urchin, hermit crabs and in your tank at least 20 snails and hermits. And obviously tangs and other algae eaters. And i dont see a single snail, hermit or tang in your tank.

Also make sure that your light output or globe life hasnt expired. And no detritus is trapped on the DT gravel and LR.

ok...i do water changes every 2 weeks (200L)
    params:
    Ca: 420ppm
    nitrate and phosphate: 0 ppm
    mg: 13something
    PH: 8,0
    alk 7,8 (i think)

the above are roughly the params from last time i tested :p

my cleanup crew consists of a couple of hermits (had a crapload, but most of them died...dont know why), like 3 of those glass shrimp things and ofcorse my beautifull seahare...and now 2 seahare offspring that somehow made it into the sump..

all my bulbs are relatively new (2 150W MH and 2 T5 giesmanns)

oh ya i also has a cockel missioning aroung somewhere...

i going to get tangs, but only in a couple of months time(long story involving brooklynella/velvet. in other words my current fish are my test subjects :) )
