    Hi fellow hobbiest,

Question: Is there any other water I can use besides RO? IE...Distilled, Purified??

Reason I'm asking is because I live in a 2nd floor apartment and while I have a place that I can purchase RO from, I find lugging the 5g bottles up flights of stairs a bit over the top. They're also pretty darn heavy! Soooo, I figure I'd open this thread up to see if anyone has used other methods. Pros/Cons...please help. :thanks:

Why don't you just get An R.O Purifier and connect it in the house. Whenever you need it you just connect it up and fill your containers. The plus is that if you add a connection before the Resin chamber then you can use this for drinking water.

I live in an apartment, so making any type of modification for an RO filtration system is not an option for me. :(

Some RO units simply have an attachment that screws onto the threaded portion of the end of a tap.. much like a hose adaptor fitting.. no modificaion needed to be done to the apartments plumbing and RO water on depand :)

you can. You get a fitting that you install behind the tap. So you just unscrew the tap, place fitting and redo. Just remember to use plumbers tape.

That might just work. Where would I find more information or buy something like this?

Ok, pity. I am sure if you venture out to one of your large superstores (like Walmart), they will be able to help out, or try contact someone who installs RO water systems. USA ROCKS when it comes to having an endless supply of goods and services.

Making RO yourself is the best option and the answer to your Question the difference between RO/Distilled and Purified is that lugging 5gallon drums of any of the 3 is the same weight and over the top ;) Make RO upstairs the best way.

all depends on the unit i think, but mine is 1RO=1.5"waste" mine goes into a drum and is used for plants and dog water so waste is zero.
