    Hi guys I been wondering

I can get a RO unit from a company called Puritech (who specialize in RO units and are located 2km from my house) or from a LFS or from the waterboy.

Are there differences to these units besides cost?
Being a Noobie I would really appreciate some honest advice here so i can make an informed decision.

Just check what filters is has and that it's not one designed for drinking water.
I'd say if it has sediment filter, carbon block, good membrane and a DI resin chamber, then go for it. Make sure it has a restrictor/flush valve.

The RO guys said i could decide what i wanted on the unit. They mentions everything @459b said
but that still dosent answer weather this is sufficent.

Is 0 tds the only goal we are looking for here?

That will be sufficient. A tds of zero is the goal, but to be honest my RO unit is only three stage (lacks the DI resin bit) so my tds hovers round 4-5. My Corals don't seem to mind not having their tank toped up with tds 0 water.

0 tds is what you want, but will climb as the material absorbs all impurities, over 0003 and its time to change

I have a waterboy ro unit which works great but buy my membranes and di resin from puritech which is cheaper than most lfs.
